Cornwell Early Learning Center is a bilingual, dual-language early childhood program serving infants through pre-K in South Minneapolis.
Here, English and Spanish share equal space. Children who speak Spanish at home hear their language honored in the classroom. Children who come from English-speaking homes gain a second language naturally, the way children do, through play, routine, and relationship. They learn from each other every day.
This is not an add-on. It is the foundation of everything we do.
What bilingual education does for a child
Research on bilingual and dual language learning shows that children raised in two languages develop stronger cognitive flexibility, sharper attention, and a greater capacity for perspective-taking. They are more comfortable with ambiguity. More open to difference. Better equipped to navigate a world that doesn't look or sound like just one thing.

Infants
